PLACES TO VISIT ON THE SUPER VALLEY VIP TOUR.
- CHINCHERO CRAFT MARKET: This town is located 28 km from Cusco on the paved road to Urubamba. The site of the remains of what was once the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui, it resembles a beautiful colonial temple built on Inca foundations. Its greatest attraction, however, is its artisan market, originally dedicated to the exchange of agricultural products between the valley’s residents and those from the highlands. Today, the market is a true spectacle of color and movement that fascinates tourists with its offering of handicrafts and textiles made in the purest pre-Columbian style.
- MORAY. Located 7 km from Maras, an hour from Cusco via the Chinchero route, it is one of the most spectacular sites where circular terraces of varying sizes can be found. These terraces are used for agricultural experiments and are places where feminine energy is concentrated, which is why it is considered a magnetic center of Pachamama..
- MARAS SOLT MINES: Located northwest of the town of Maras, known by some as «salt mines,» they consist of approximately 3,000 small wells. Salt has been obtained since pre-Hispanic times by sun-drying salt water from an underground stream. Once the water evaporates, the salt is ready for sale.
- OLLANTAYTAMBO: A typical Inca village located 21 km from Urubamba (2,800 meters above sea level). It was named after Chief Ollanta, famous for his romance with an Inca princess, daughter of Pachacútec. One of its best-preserved areas extends north of the Hanan Huacaypata plaza, a total of 15 blocks of mansions built on carved stone walls. The vast archaeological site, located on the hill that gives its name to the town, features buildings such as the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the Princess’s Baths. From Ollantaytambo, a paved Inca Trail leads up to the Málaga Pass (4,200 meters above sea level) and heads toward the mountain ridge, passing through villages such as the picturesque Huilloc, home to the renowned Huairuros.
- PISAQ: Pisac is located 33 km from Cusco by paved road (from the Sacred Valley of the Incas). It has an ancient village, an archaeological site considered one of the most important in Cusco, and a modern village of colonial origin. This place also has a famous Pisac artisan market that attracts thousands of visitors and community members from remote villages, wearing colorful traditional clothing. It is recommended to purchase all handicrafts here, as they are cheaper than in the city of Cusco.
