OUR

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUZCO - KLM 82. - AYAPATA (Inca trail to machu picchu 4 days)

The night before your Machu Picchu hike, there will be a briefing with your hiking tour guide at 6:30 p.m. This will take place at the hotel where you will be staying. But if you prefer, we can also arrange a meeting for you at a different time.

In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel with our private transportation (time will depend on your location). You will take a breathtaking ride to the start of the KM 82 trail, where you will see spectacular views of the Andes along the way. Afterwards, one of our chefs will prepare a tasty breakfast.

After lunch, you will need to show your passport at the checkpoint and then the first two and a half hours of hiking will begin. The trail will be fairly flat until we reach the Inca site of Llactapata where you will experience Inca culture for the first time and learn about Peruvian history and more.

After your first lesson on Inca history, it will be another hour and a half until we reach the lunch stop and after lunch we will walk for another 2 hours until we reach the first night’s campsite at Ayapata (3300 meters).

On this last stretch, we pass through 2 small communities where you can buy any energy drinks, snacks or some essential items you may have forgotten to buy before, you can also charge batteries and other equipment at these places. We will then arrive at our campsite at 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon to settle in and relax over a hot drink or snack with your team of porters, chef and guide. Finally, at 7:30 p.m. At night, your delicious dinner will be ready and after dinner, you will have your well-deserved rest.

Hiking distance: 8.7 miles/14 km (6-7 hours)
Camp altitude: 3300 meters (high) above sea level.

DAY 2: AYAPATA - DEAD WOMENS PASS - PACAYMAYO - CHAQUICOCHA

Your porters will wake you up early at 4:45 a.m. with a cup of coca tea to prepare you for the day, followed by a nutritious breakfast and at 6:15 a.m., we will start hiking to the highest elevation of the Inca Trail; Dead Woman’s Pass (Warmiwañuska) which is located at (4,215 meters).

Then we will ascend for more than four hours passing through different microclimates and stunning views of incredible landscapes and mountains. Now, when we are in this part of the trail it will be a bit difficult to walk, due to the elevation we will encounter. Therefore, we will take some breaks, then we will reach the summit and the porters will be waiting for you with a hot cup of tea for you to drink while enjoying the moment.

The next hike will last an hour and a half but this time, downhill, through the Inca steps, until you reach your lunch spot. After lunch, you will have another four hours of walking, alternating between breaks until you reach the Chaquicocha camp, where you can visit two beautiful archaeological sites; Runku Raccay and Sayacmarka. In these places you will enjoy different types of plants, flowers and birds of the forest. After lunch, you can take the five-minute walk to the most beautiful Inca site on the Inca trail, Wiñay Wayna (forever young).

This place is full of impressive buildings and viewpoints along the way. Later, around 5:30 p.m., you will return to the campsite for your last happy hour and dinner. At the same time, you will be able to take pictures at the site, while you walk for another hour, until you reach the actual ruins.

Once you reach the entrance to the citadel, you will walk to the Machu Picchu checkpoint, where you can get an entry stamp in your passport and your guide will take you through the Machu Picchu archaeological complex. This will last for two hours, teaching you about the majesty of the place.
