Maras Moray Half Day Tour

This tour will take you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Sacred Valley, exploring two of the region’s most fascinating sites: the circular terraces of Moray and the ancient salt mines of Maras. The tour offers a perfect blend of Inca history, unique geology, and vibrant culture.
Duration: Approximately 5-6 hours (Half-day tour).

Tour Highlights:
Morning (Pickup and departure from Cusco).
8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m: The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco’s historic center. Your tour will take you on a scenic route to the Sacred Valley.
9:30 a.m: The first stop will be a textile interpretation center to learn about ancient Andean weaving techniques.

Main route

10:45 a.m: Visit the Moray Archaeological Complex. This site is famous for its circular, ring-shaped terraces, believed to have been used as an agricultural research center by the Incas. Each level is said to have a different microclimate, allowing for experiments with the cultivation of various plants.
12:20 p.m: You’ll continue to the Maras Salt Mines. A stunning landscape with more than 3,000 salt wells that have been exploited since pre-Inca times. The wells are filled with water from an underground spring, and the salt is extracted through evaporation. It’s a perfect place to take photographs and learn about this artisanal process.
Afternoon (Return to Cusco).
1:30 p.m: Finally, we will board our vehicle to return to the city of Cusco.

Maras Moray Tour FAQs

How much is the entrance fee to Maras Moray?

Moray is included in the tourist ticket and it is mandatory to purchase it (130 soles per person or 70 for the partial ticket – valid only for 2 days). You cannot pay just the entrance to Moray.

How much does it cost to enter Salineras de Maras?

Entrance to the Maras salt mines is: S/ 20.00 soles per person. General Admission.

How to get to Maras and Moray?

You will have to use the buses that go from Cusco to Urubamba. The station is located on Avenida Grau (three blocks from Qoricancha), and they leave every 15 minutes. Once you reach the branch, you have to take a taxi to go to the town of Maras.

How long does the Maras Moray and Salt Mines Tour last?

The tour starts at 09:00 am and ends at 2:30 pm. around 6 hours of tours.
